Series 5: Faith at Work
Colossians 3:23–24
“Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people.” — Colossians 3:23
We often separate worship from work. Worship happens on Sunday. Work happens Monday through Friday.
But scripture does not divide our lives that way.
Romans 12:1 tells us that true worship is offering our whole lives to God. That includes our meetings, our studying, our caregiving, our leadership, our logistics, and our unseen responsibilities.
Excellence Is Not Perfection
Perfection is rooted in fear.
Excellence is rooted in devotion.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 reminds us to do what is in our hands with all our strength. Excellence is about stewardship. It is about faithfulness. It is about honoring God with what He has entrusted to us.
The Audience of One
Galatians 1:10 challenges us to examine who we are trying to please. When we work primarily for human approval, we are constantly unstable. But when we remember we serve Christ, our work becomes steady and purposeful.
Faithful in the Small
Luke 16:10 reminds us that faithfulness in small things matters. Hidden excellence forms visible character.
Reflection Questions
- Where has excellence become pressure instead of worship?
- What would shift if we truly believed we were serving Christ at work?
- Are there areas where we need to return to wholehearted stewardship?
Let us offer our work to God this week and trust Him to establish the work of our hands.
