Series 4: Decisions & Wisdom
Anchor Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6 (CSB)
Christians often believe the hardest part of following God is faith.
In reality, the hardest part is decision-making.
We worry constantly about choosing wrong. A career move, a relationship step, a ministry opportunity, a relocation, or a timing decision can feel spiritually dangerous. Many believers quietly live with the fear that one wrong decision can derail God’s plan for their lives.
Proverbs 3:5–6 offers a different picture.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.”
This passage does not promise perfect clarity. It promises faithful guidance.
Trust Is Not Certainty
Trust does not mean God explains every outcome beforehand. Faith operates before results appear. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is confidence in what we cannot yet see. God often guides while we are moving rather than before we start moving.

Not Relying on Your Own Understanding
This does not mean ignoring wisdom or logic. It means recognizing your perspective is limited. Isaiah 55:8–9 tells us God sees differently than we do. We interpret present circumstances while God works with future outcomes in mind.
Knowing God in Every Way
To “know Him in all your ways” means inviting God into the process, not just the moment of prayer before a decision. It includes Scripture, counsel, prayer, and humility.
How God Actually Guides
God’s guidance usually comes through:
• Scripture
• Wisdom
• Wise counsel
• Inner peace
He rarely gives signs on demand. Instead, He forms trust.

You Cannot Ruin a Redeemable Life
Romans 8:28 reassures believers that God works all things together for good. That does not remove responsibility, but it removes paralyzing fear. God is not waiting for you to perfectly predict your future. He is inviting you to walk with Him.
The goal of decisions is not flawless outcomes.
The goal is faithful dependence.
When trust replaces control, anxiety loses its power.
