Key Scripture: Isaiah 53:5 (CSB)
“But he was pierced because of our rebellion…”
What Good Friday Really Means
Good Friday is heavy. And it should be.
It reminds us that grace is free for us, but it was not without cost.
Jesus did not just teach truth.
He lived it.
And then He gave His life for it.
So what we are seeing is this—our freedom came at a price we could never pay.
Why This Still Matters Today
It is easy to become familiar with the story of the cross.
But when we slow down, we realize something deeper.
Jesus did not go to the cross for a version of us that had it all together.
He went for us in our brokenness, our inconsistency, and our need.
That changes how we see everything.
- We do not have to strive to earn what has already been given
- We do not have to carry guilt that Jesus already paid for
- We are invited to live from grace, not for it
Making It Practical
Honoring Good Friday is not about staying in sadness. It is about recognizing the weight of what was done and living differently because of it.
1. Sit with the reality of the cross
Not rushing past it. Not minimizing it.
2. Release what we were never meant to carry
Guilt. Shame. Pressure to perform.
3. Extend grace to others
Because we have received it first.
So what we have seen so far is this—grace is not just something we believe. It is something we live out.
A Simple Reflection
What are we still holding onto that Jesus already paid for?
And how would our lives shift if we truly lived from the grace we have been given?
Good Friday reminds us that love was not just spoken.
It was demonstrated.
